Indian Coast Gaurd takes Coastal Clean up drive

Indian Coast Gaurd took International Coastal Clean up drive at Rabindranth Tagore beach Karwar.
International Coastal Cleaning activity was organised by Indian Coast Gaurd Karwar on 21st September 2024 at Rabindranth Tagore beach in Association with Department of studies in Marine Biology of Karnatak University,  Karnataka Forest Department,  etc.
Sri. Kiran Kumar Sinha Comdt. Indian Coast Gaurd,Karwar formally welcomed everyone and briefed about importance of beach cleanig.  Lakshmipriya K Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada inaugurated activity.  Retired IG Sri. M. V Badkar spoke about role for costal organisms in fisheries.  Uttara Kannada SP Narayana M was also attended the event. 
Total of 475 volunteers attended the beach cleanig, 1 km length and 60 meter width of beach was cleaned. Total of 508.8 kg litter was collected, which was comprised of 416kg plastics, 24 kg chappals , 25 kg cloths and miscellaneous wastes  also. 
DCF  Sri RavishankarIFS,  Grasim Industry Chief Sri. Kush Sharma also winessed the event. Entire event was sponsored by Indian Coast Gaurd Karwar. 

All litter was,segregated,  weighed and handed over to Municility,Karwar for proper disposal and recycling.

Dr. J. L Rathod professor Marine Biology spoke on the occasion.
